If you are using a tablet then you have press “Windows logo Key + Volume down button“.
On some laptops and other devices you may need to press “Windows logo key + Ctrl + PrtScn” or “Windows logo key + Fn + PrtSccn” key instead.
When you press the keys the screen will dim for a second and the screenshot will be automatically saved in the “Screenshots” folder which is located under your default “Picture” folder in File Explorer in Windows 10.
Your Window will only Dim if you have the “Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing” turned on in your visual effects Settings

Windows Snipping Tool is a screenshot utility included in Windows Vista and later operating system. With this simple utility, you can take a screenshot of an open Windows, Rectangular areas, free-form areas, or the entire screen.
Snips (Screenshots) can there be annotated using a mouse or a tablet, stored as an image file (PNG, GIF, or JPEG file), or an MHTML file, or e-mailed.
Snipping Tool allows for primary image editing of the snaps, with different colored pens, an eraser, and a highlighter.
In Windows 10 operating system the snipping tool has a new built-in feature that is “Delay Time” which allows for timed capture of screenshots.
To Take A Screen Screenshot With Snipping Tool
- Open Snipping Tool Click on the “New” and the delay time you want the screenshot should be taken, capture the area with the help of mouse.
- Now pick the type of snip you want to make by clicking the arrow next to “New”. You can now choose from one of the four types of snips: Free-form Snip, Rectangular snip, Windows snip, Full-screen Snip.
- The screen will not Dim or Fade out when you use the Snipping Tool. Instead, you will have time between 0 to 5 seconds depending upon the time delay you choose to set up your screenshot.
- Once your time delay is over the screen will freeze and fade out so you can create your screenshot.
Note: If you choose Window or Full-screen snip, it will just capture the snip immediately.
