Umi Digi launches the UMI Max with the 5.5-inch display and 3 GB RAM at just $170; the company is known for high-end smartphones at affordable prices. Previously it has launched Umi Touch, Umi Super which is still doing quite good in the market, and Umi London, Rome X earlier this year; all these provides good and unique specs at a cheaper price.
Now coming to UMI Max, it is built of Aerospace class Aluminum metal with unibody design and it comes with a 2.5 D Arc screen on the front. If you are still unaware of this 2.5 D glass, then let me tell you that the 2.5D glass is slightly curved towards the bezel area where you can quickly swipe your fingers smoothly that also looks nice and stylish. Earlier the company had hinted the screen would be 6 inches but finally launched with 5.5 inches full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution protected with Corning’s Gorilla Glass ver3. Coming to the processor, it has MediaTek’sHelio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz along with Mali T860 Graphics, which includes
Samsung’s 3 GB eMMC+LPDDR3 RAM and 16 GB of inbuilt storage which can further be expanded up to 256 GB with a MicroSD card.
It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with dual sim dual standby option with a hybrid slot, which means either you can use two sim cards or one sim and one TF card simultaneously. But while using two SIM cards, only one of them would get LTE service based on your preference. So we get 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB Type – C port. It also comes with various sensors to support these features and also supports ‘On The Go’ (OTG) feature.
It is powered by a 4000mAh battery which is non-removable and can last up to 264 hours on standby mode and can give 60 hours of music playback. But we don’t have any information on the Quick Charge technology, whether it supports or not yet. Coming to Camera, It has 13 MP Panasonic rear camera with Dual flashlight which can focus at just 0.3 seconds. At the front, there is a 5 MP Galaxy Core 5005 camera. At the back right below the camera, it has fingerprint scanner which can unlock the device in 0.1 to 0.3 seconds. It also supports multi functions probably to scroll a page and to open the camera etc. The device also comes with Hi-Fi sound system with the smart AW8738 chip.
